It's been a tough season for me so far, only managed 7 nights all season and a few short day sessions, finally got off the mark after the 6th night at 2
in the afternoon at Monk Lakes Specimen Lake during a rain storm i hooked a cat on one of my new Catfish Pro persuaders. After a good scrap where the fish
tried to pull me in several times i netted a 26lb 8oz UK PB! Having lost a decent cat about 2 months ago it felt pretty good to get my first fish on the bank
this season! I had already caught two +#$* of 27lb and 27lb 4oz so it ended up being a really successful trip! only downside to the trip was the huge number
of rats i had to contend with each night, not pleasant....
A 45lb cat came out to another angler while i was there and i had to lift it out for him as his landing net was nowhere near big enough, so i went and got my
large catfish mat, wetted it down and pulled the fish straight from the water ontot the mat as if we were in spain!! i showed him how to handle cats safely
and take a good picture and he was well pleased - he even went a bought another unhooking mat so he would have a bigger mat if he caught anymore cats!
phew!

Cheers Paul, nice idea with the rat traps, though there were about 30 waterbirds all over the lake as well so i would probably have woken up to several dead
moorhens or something....... not ideal!

Nice one Ben good session and a pb as well, can't get better than that, get the rat traps that fit in a plastic box with a hole in one end, only rats can fit in it and it sorts the little buggers out very nicely
Give a man a fish you feed him for the day, Teach him how to fish and you get rid of him for a whole weekend
