First off I'd like to give Gerry a big thank you for arranging the fish-in and giving us a few pointers on how to approach the fishing. I only joined the
group a few weeks ago, after the fish-in my only regret was not joining years ago, I had a really good time. It was nice to fish with some anglers that fish
for catfish as it's rare that I see anyone else targetting them on my regular waters.
I fished a swim halfway along the bungalow bank, next to an overhanging elderberry bush. I slept through a run on a big bunch of lobs fished next to the bush on Tuesday night - due to a sodden (sodding? ) delkim, that failed to
sound. I had 3 runs on my pellet rod, fished about 40 yards out, which resulted in a 38lber on Wednesday evening, a 7lber just after dark & another small
fish that dropped off on the way in just before dawn this morning.
Looking forward to the next one... |

hiya paul .good to meet up mate .you did well mate with your captures .. as regards the none working delk , did you have the first rod ring close up to the
alarm, and was you fishing open bail ,or off the runner ,if you position the alarm too far away from the first rod ring ,with open bails, the line can coil
over the alarm ,and not send out a beep ,you need a little bit of tension to make the alarms register ,close up the gap next time if that was the case .atb bud

I know what you're getting at Mark...I was fishing open bail-arm & had the butt ring about 2-3" in front of the buzzer, this is usually not a
problem in dry conditions. The buzzers are the old style delks, more than 10 years old for sure & they've played up when they get wet for a year or
two now - they're fine after a spell in the airing cupboard when I get home. Anyway, I splashed out on a new set yesterday, so hopefully that problem is a
thing of the past for me.
