I have been a member of the CCG for a few years now and in this time i have never been told what our subs are spent on. I was a member of the PAC for several
years and they used to tell you in a news letter each year what all the subs were spent on and all the things they were doing to aid pike fishing. I was just
wondering if there is anywhere on the ccg site were i could find out this info

Hi pussyslayer,
I'm afraid you won't find the information that you are after on the website. The best person to contact for the actual nitty gritty is Simon who handles all the group funds - he is away at the moment. What I can do is give you a very rough idea of where the bulk of the subs goes. Whiskers magazine takes a good chunk of our money - we do get a bit back from advertising but the production costs are high as it is a high quality full colour publication. Newsletter production takes a bit more cash and the postage for both the mag and the newsletter is always a big drain on our resources. More postage goes on general letters to members and subscription chasers. The CCG award scheme costs us for the pins and of course more postage to send the certificates and awards out. We are ok for certificates at the moment but we will have to find the more for more printing when they run out. There are costs associated with running this website - domains, hosting etc. Keeping the forum advert free comes with a charge too. Although we try to only keep very low stocks of CCG products, we do have to shell out from time to time on items such as mugs, badges, stickers and CCG clothing. Adams Pool Fishery is available to all members and although the main rental costs are pretty well covered by the syndicate fees and day tickets but there is still the ongoing costs of insurance and the Portaloo. I am sure there are other costs that I can't think of right now but as I said previously Simon will be better informed than I. Lastly, just for general information, anyone involved in the running of the group gets absolutely nothing out of it in fact personally it costs me money in time, fuel, postage, phone calls etc. Every penny that we make from subs and advertising gets ploughed back directly into running the group. Hope this answers the bulk of your question pussyslayer. Regards Keith |

Keith, pretty much covered the main costs of running the CCG, plus I would also mention postage, stationery and web site costs.
I do not produce formal accounts as such for the CCG as we are an informal group and have always run as such, though i do keep record of any money spent and receipts where apppropriate. We always run at no profit and money is always tight. mainly due to the fact that we print 1000 whiskers magazines (minimum realistic run for high quality print) which is where most CCG funds go. Our club "assets" are in back issue magazines filling up my loft! We are also in a period of funds recovery due to some disastrous fish in cash losses 2 years ago that put us into deficit and Adams Pool regularly in past years has made a loss please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or suggestions regards Simon Clarke Secretary & Membership Secretary & Treasurer etc. CCG 01252 852528 |

Simon,
Its good that you keep receipts etc as records of the CCG expenditure. However, is there any truth to the rumour that you have sbmitted a receipt for a 15k garden extension to your second residence in the Ebro Valley (to be closer to the CCGmembership i understand) which includes a recent garden extension, moat and period peice rabbit hutch and island??? Simon for MEP!!! |
