hi dave, apologies mate.. after msatch told me he had won a competition for a trip with you i wrongly assumed you were set up as a guide. i dont want to disagree with your advice dave but you have mentioned someone that jumped in between a few of us last year and told his clients the fish they caught were much bigger than they were! they didnt know any different but it was about 10 yards from where we were fishing and we could see they werent nearly as big as he said they were... they thought they had caught a brace of 187's but when the second one was re-weighed after my mate walked over and questioned it, it was about 145lb! his clients said that the first one was about the same size. i dont like naming names but that is just ridiculous in my book so here goes... fatcatz & finecarp! i expect to get a bit of stick over this but i dont think it acceptable that guides lie to increase their client base.. at the expense of the clients. his poor anglers werent sure what to believe after that! hope you are catching a few mate. marc

Hi Marc, I was the lad who had the second cat when you was next door to us on that session, this as already been explained to your mate that came over for the second weighing. Im an angler with 20 years experience on the river and lake scene in Yorkshire and after many years general course angling i took up the dedicated !@$% scene about 12 years ago, i class myself as capable and involve myself with many angling schools, charity events and have bailiffed and run waters around yorkshire, i can understand the views of anglers when they think someone is cheating, exagerating or just plain lying. I have seen many tricks in the angling world but proudly have never myself fell foul to any...... my angling career and people that know me are testiment to this. The trip to the ebro was my first ever trip abroad and the first time i was to fish for cats by design, so the experience was very new to me. We went for a week and took the ladies with us, we fished for !@$% from early morning then dropped on to the cats during the evening. Jason and FatCatz had come very highly recommended and one of the lads with us had won his trip on a charity do set up by our !@$% forum, Jason as donated many trips to causes and events and seen everyone of them through 100%. During our trip i dealt with the !@$% and weighing of such, as i like to get involved throughout the capture, however on the cats, because i was knew to the game, i watched and learned how to handle them and what to do during the first few days of our trips and managed to take a few cats with my biggest of 121lb. The day we was on the prom front was actually my Birthday and the lads and lass's had got a few beers, some good grub and a birthday cake complete with candle, it was shaping up to be one hell of a first trip and all down to Jase. My mate then had a take that resulted in him landing a cat of 187lb.....awesome simply awesome, and just when we thought it could be no better i had a take that resulted in a very big cat. Now during playing the cat me and my mate were having the crack and some banter with me saying i hope its a 200 for my birthday, all caught up in the birthday and ebro experience we were having a great time. Jase got in the water as the Cat neared the edge and when i looked down i could see it was not as big as the previous cat and shouted to Jase, "What size do you reckon" his reply was "around a ton thirty" i answered back saying i thought it was round the 150 mark. Now during the carping in the morning when i was weighing a few of the lads bigger fish, the pair of red Rueben we were using had broken, the balance had gone and the needle had stuck. amongst the exitement the girls and gone to the back of the van were we had pulled the weighing gear and they pulled out the mat, the bar and the red scales, leaving the new set we had used previously on the wall. Me and mate asked if we could sort it out and was still having the crack with one another and did not realise that we had the broken scales, we weighed the fish and the needle bumped round to the 180 mark, of course i was just dancing at that and began my merry jig, BUT...... Jase looked straight at me and said "thats not 180 mate, it needs reweighing" at which an angler from your group then appeared and said the same thing. The fish was reweighed using the new scales and went 141...... i was still over the moon, having an excellent Birthday and truly enjoying the whole aspect. Now, The mistake that was made with the weighing of the cat was made by me and me alone, and under no circumstances did Jase or Fatcatz try to lie or exagerate. It was simple human error made by myself in what was a very eventful and happy atmosphere. there was no gain to anyone or anything in what happened and there was no loss either, i was over the moon. Simple facts often get ignored by some, usually down to jealousy, people make there opinions on half a story..... well you now have the facts and you have the truth..... i find it a bitter person or group that will try to ruin someone as honest and hard working as Jason Latham and his Girlfriend Amanda..... especially when there is nothing at all to gain for that person of group. One thing i will say, its very sad that this type of behavior goes on....... i witnessed Jase on several occasions refuse to give his details to anglers on other guided trips out of sheer respect for that guide or operator..... he actually refused business!!!! FatCatz and FineCarp, run by Jason Latham and Amanda is a very well run service, he got us results beyond our expectations on both species, they catered for both us and the girls during our entire stay and made my first Ebro experience one i will never forget. I returned back in Feb for a weekend to do some winter Carping and ended up with a nice 40lbr, during that weekend we were joined by another tour guide, they stayed with us for a couple of days and we had a really good time, they got plenty of cats and the guide himself, Barry was a good man indeed..... 2 rival guild service sharing swims, bait rigs and having fun..... now thats good sport.... that guiding service was catfish capers...... i would recommend both..... Marc, if you or your mate, who duly said sorry last time i explained this to him on another forum, have any more problems about this event, that concerned no one else other than me and my mates, have any problems at all, please contact me privately so we can best resolve it. Thanks Marc, I intended no name calling to be directed at you, i did not think i had name called at all, i was simply summing up how things get out of hand. Forums are a good thing but also cause a hell of alot of grief. Dont know why my reply is like one giant sentence neither, i did paragraph it..... bet that was fun to read....sorry!!! I hope to be spending many more sessions on the Ebro. all the best and keep on catching mate:-)
