Anyone see the River Monsters episode last night 15-12-09 on ITV4?
Jeremy Wade looking for monster catfish in the Amazon.

Couldn't stand the whole "killer catfish" concept of the programme & the pure dramatization of Big Cats but still a fantastic program to watch, if only to see some absoulutely stunning specimens of Big Amazonian Cats.
The footage of him craddling giant Jau, Redatil & particlaur Brachypatystome Filamentosum Cats blew me away.

Netting of the lower Ebro?

Does anybody know if there is any truth that the lower Ebro is to have nets strung all along it and all the cats, and other non native species removed?
i have got 2 weeks booked for next year in Amposta and Tortosa but will have to re-plan if this is the case.

I have just watched the latest 'River Monsters' programme by Jeremy Wade and this time about wels and specifically, within Europe. In my opinion this single programme has done more to damage the cause of the wels than any other that I am aware of. hi all,

does anyone know the official world record catfish weight nowadays and also what do you lot reckon is the biggest ever recorded?

there was always talk of a 660lb fish in russia but was this ever actually confirmed?

ive also seen pics on the interweb of a fish around 10ft+ long estimated around 350lb.. unfortunately it was strung up from a tree!

Right folks,

I want a rig material that will not hurt Catfish on a venue were you are likely to pick up Pike and Eels so it will have to have some form of wire in it in my eyes.

What do you recommend?

As usual in the autumn I switch from Catting, Barbeling or Fluff Chucking to Zedding (such an active life) and usually target the River Ouse around Ely.

This autumn my catches have been mixed and fish haven't appeared as they usually do when conditions have been favourable.

Hi there

Next year I wont be able to make my usual trip to the River Saone so wanted to grab a week in the UK somewhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions and can recommend a venue, doesnt matter where it is really. Not looking for accomodation etc as will be bivvying up but some facilities would be nice ie a shower room etc.

As my mate like to waste time during the day fishing for c$£p it would keep him happy if said venue had a decent stock of these...
